Slow Food

Slow Food is a non-profit organization that was founded to counteract fast food and fast life, the disappearance of local food traditions and people's dwindling interest in the food they eat, where it comes from, how it tastes and how our food choices affect the rest of the world.

GROUP MESSAGES:

I definitely agree that we need more Slow Food meals to appreciate food and to appreciate friends and family. At the same time, how do we accomplish all we want to do in life and cook our own Slow Food? I think there's a balance, which is why I've been writing a blog that is about "Slow Food for Fast People": feelgoodfastfood.org. I'd love it if you would all check it out and let me know what you think. It parallels this month's Ode Magazine article on Fast Food.

Thank you, -Amanda

I think we need to make it a priority to slow down and enjoy our food. I remember a story from a good friend. She was talking of her memories with her grandma that she was especially close to . Standing around the butcher block island in the kitchen helping grandma cook was the first thing that always comes to her mind when reminiscing... And, is it no wonder that she is a wonderful cook and truly enjoys her food! A great example of "slow food" i suppose.... i am going to try to have one slow meal a week for starters.....

what a great idea! Slow Food!

Trying to enjoy a "slow" meal on a busy weekday (especially during the holidays) can seem nearly impossible. How do you find the time and the patience to slow down and make a healthy meal during busy times?
